LANCASTER, Pa. (February 13, 2013) – Sophomore
Mike Polizzi (Montville, N.J.) of the Stevens Institute of Technology wrestling team picked up his second Centennial Conference honor roll of the season for his performance this past week over three matches. Stevens went 2-1 this week with two victories over conference foes.
Polizzi grapples for the Ducks at 149-lbs. and went 3-0 in his bouts against Lycoming College, Gettysburg College and Washington & Lee University. With the three victories, Polizzi improved his record to 21-3 on the year.
The sophomore began his week with an 11-0 shutout major decision win against Matt Neff of Lycoming on February 6. Despite the four-point triumph for the team and a 10-3 advantage at the time, Stevens would drop the dual against the Warriors, 24-14.
At the conference tri-match hosted by Gettysburg, Polizzi pinned both of his counterparts. Against Washington & Lee, the Montville native took down Connor Duffey in 4:24 to give the Ducks a commanding 11-0 lead and the eventual victory, 37-6.
In the match verse the host Bullets, Polizzi scored a crucial six points with a pin of Eddie Carroll in 1:17. Stevens picked up 18 points by forfeits, but Gettysburg erased the difference by winning every bout except two. Polizzi's win at 149 and senior

(Brick, N.J.) pin at 165 lifted the Ducks to victory.
Stevens will be back on the mats tomorrow night at 7 p.m. against the United States Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, N.Y for the final regular Centennial match of the season. The Ducks dominated USMMA last season, 37-4.
