INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (October 28, 2014) – Heading into its regular-season finale in Hoboken against Empire 8 rival Nazareth College, the Stevens Institute of Technology field hockey team finds itself among the national leaders in several statistical categories.
Stevens is ranked seventh nationally in defensive saves with 19 on the season, and the Ducks are 18th in the nation in penalty corners per game, averaging 12.37 eacjh outing. Stevens is No. 24 in saves per game (10.58), No. 32 in assists per game, dishing out two per outing, and 45th in points per game (7.58). The Ducks also crack the top-50 in goals per game (2.79) and scoring average (2.79).
Individually, junior midfielder
Dailyn Brook (Cherry Hill, N.J.) is eighth in the country in assists per game at .74, and freshman back
Cassidy O'Hearn (Silver Spring, Md.) is 10th nationally in defensive saves with eight on the year. Additionally, sophomore goalkeeper
Emily Stukenborg (Stockholm, N.J.) is 20th in the nation in saves per game, stopping 9.58 per outing.
Conference-wise, Brook and O'Hearn both lead the conference in assists per game and defensive saves, respectively, while Stevens as a team is No. 1 in the Empire 8 in defensive saves and penalty corners. The Ducks' 2.00 assists per game is good for second in the conference.
The Ducks and Golden Flyers will square off Saturday in Hoboken at 1 p.m., and with a win, Stevens will punch its ticket to the Empire 8 Field Hockey Championship as the No. 4 seed. All of Saturday's action will be webcast live at
