No. 27 Men's Tennis Team Picks Up First Win Of The Season

EAST BRUNSWICK, N.J. (February 23, 2014)- The No. 27 Stevens Institute of Technology men's tennis team knocked off Babson College  5-3 on Sunday to earn their first win of the season.

 

Now 1-1, the Ducks will hit the road again next weekend for a battle with Swarthmore College at 1 p.m. on Saturday.

 

After dropping a point at No.3 doubles to start the match, sophomore Ben Foran and freshman Antonio Perich got Stevens in the win column with an 8-3 victory at No. 1.

 

Sophomore Matthew Heinrich and freshman Charles Drake concluded the doubles matches with an 8-5 win over Babson's junior-duo of Connor DeFiore and Ramone Doyley to give Stevens the 2-1 edge. 

Freshman Michael Feldman kept the Ducks streak going by winning 7-5 and 6-3 at No. 4 singles against Doyler, and was followed up by a 7-5, 6-0 win for Foran at  No. 2.

 

Freshman Brett Derrington took a 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 6 against sophomore Saif Rahim to extend the Stevens lead that they wouldn't surrender. The loss evened Babson's record at 1-1. 

 

The No. 3 match was incomplete and the reason for there being only eight total points.
