HOBOKEN N.J. (August 30, 2014) - The Stevens Institute of Technology women's tennis team overcame injuries to two starters Saturday to beat Houghton College 6-3 in their season opener.
The win marks the second straight year the Ducks have won their first match of the year as they move to 1-0. Senior

Alexis Connor sat out the match due to injuries.
Stevens raced out to a commanding lead thanks to a doubles sweep. In her collegiate debut, freshman

Danielle Stewart to take the 8-1 win at first doubles. Sophomore
Lily Bruenjes and sophomore
Jillian Morneau followed suit with an 8-1 win at No. 3 before junior
Julia Guignard and sophomore
Allie Masciana extended the lead with an 8-5 win at No. 2.
Stewart won again in singles, 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2 over freshman Laura Jacuzzo, and Masciana picked up another match point with a 6-4, 6-1 win over freshman Courtney Grippo. Fresh off her first career win at doubles, Guido clinched the win for Stevens with a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 3 over junior Hannah Hale.
The Ducks won't have much time to celebrate their win as they'll be right back in action tomorrow against Nazareth College at 1 p.m.
