HOBOKEN, N.J. (September 5, 2014) – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's soccer team returns home this Saturday for a 3 p.m. match with Carthage College.
The Ducks (0-2-0) are looking to bounce back after back-to-back losses to start the season against Farmingdale State College and William Paterson University.
SCOUTING CARTHAGE The Red Men enter Saturday's contest with a 3-0-0 record after posting a 13 win season in 2013. Carthage is currently on a run of four straight winning seasons.
So far in 2014, four different players have scored with senior Seamus Kaminski leading the team with four points, and senior Michael Dombrowski sitting second with two. Dombrowski led the team in 2013 with 30.
Defensively, Carthage has yet to allow a goal this season with sophomore Jovani Mata and senior Nick Huftalin each making a start and totaling four saves each. Huftalin registered 49 saves in 18 starts last season.
DUCK FACTS Stevens has outshot opponents 43-22 this season and has had 12 more corner kicks. Additionally, the Ducks have put three more shots on goal and have committed three less fouls than the opposition.
The Ducks have been played particular well in the first half, outscoring opponents 2-1 while outshooting them 13-10.
PRYOR PROWESS Junior
Carson Pryor has factored into both of Stevens' goals this season, scoring one and assisting on the other. Pryor is currently on a streak of four goals in the team's last six games dating back to last season, and the junior has scored in 13 of the 22 games he's played in since transferring to Stevens prior to the 2013 season.
REPEATING HISTORY The last time Stevens went winless in its first two games was 2005. That season, after starting 0-2-2, the Ducks rattled off 17 of 18 wins before falling in the NCAA Tournament round of 16.
