HOBOKEN, N.J. (
September 5, 2014) – Coming off a pair of 6-3 road wins against Houghton College and Nazareth College, the Stevens Institute of Technology women's tennis team will open their home schedule this weekend with matches against Utica College and Hartwick College.

Both teams bring in a combined 1-0 record into the weekend.

Duck dominance

Since joining the Empire 8 Conference in 2007, the Ducks are a combined 14-0 against Utica and Hartwick. In that time, Stevens has never won by less than a 6-3 margin.

Get to know the opposition

Utica is in the midst of a 16 match losing streak with their last win coming Sep. 22, 2012 against Cazenovia College. The 2014 squad features a combined eight freshman and sophomores.

Hartwick enters the weekend coming off a 6-3 win in their opening match against The Sage Colleges. The Hawks returned an experienced squad for 2014 with a roster that includes five seniors including a 2013 All-Empire 8 Honorable Mention member in Nicole Schepisi.

Stepping up

With several members of the team battling injuries, senior Danielle Stewart, sophomore Allie Masciana, and freshman Katrina Guido have shouldered the load by going a combined 6-0 in singles.

In doubles, Stewart and Guido have teamed-up to go 2-0 from the No. 2 position while Masciana and sophomore Jillian Morneau have also each added two wins a-piece.

Where to watch

With an ominous weather forecast on Saturday, the Utica match has been moved indoors to the Edgewater Racquet Club at 1 p.m. Sunday's 1 p.m. Hartwick match is still scheduled for the Stevens tennis courts, however the location may be changed if rain enters the forecast. The athletic department will be sponsoring a sunglasses giveaway prior to Sunday's match.
