Box Score HOBOKEN, N.J. (September 6, 2014) – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's soccer team scored three unanswered goals Saturday to knock off Carthage College 3-1 in Hoboken.
The win moves Stevens' record to 1-2-0 while Carthage drops to 3-1-0.
Both teams traded possessions and fought for position to start the game before Carthage gained the early lead. In the ninth minute, Carthage freshman Johnny Rimkus gained control of a loose ball, dribbled past the defense and floated a shot over sophomore goalie

Carson Pryor's shot went off the crossbar where Renna headed it in to tie the game at 2.
The goal was Renna's team leading second of the season.
Stevens rode the momentum with three shots over the next three minutes, but were unable to connect on any of them. Carthage returned serve with a pair of shots of their own but a diving stop from goalie

Both teams traded possessions again early in the second half before Stevens gained the lead. In the 74
th minute, senior
Kevin Calloway connected off a pass from Renna to give Stevens a 2-1 advantage. Renna sent a pass across the box where Calloway was able to hammer it in from the middle to score.
The Ducks defense kept the pressure off Renna, allowing them to add to lead in the 78
th minute. Junior
Colin Phillips gained possession of a loose ball from just outside the box where he was able to loop it over the advancing goaltenders arms, and into the net.
The lead was enough as Stevens played lock-down defense the rest of the way to secure the victory. The Ducks out shot Carthage 13-10 and registered two more corner kicks. Carthage had not allowed a goal in three games coming into the contest.
