HOBOKEN, N.J. (September 6, 2014) – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's tennis team cruised to a 9-0 win over Utica College Saturday at the Binghampton Racquet Center in Edgewater, N.J.
The win keeps the Ducks undefeated at 3-0 while Utica dropped to 0-1.
Stevens started strong at doubles with junior
Alexis Connor and sophomore
Allie Masciana's 8-0 win at No. 2 over sophomore Gabriella Morreale and junior Doni Look, followed by a second 9-0 win for senior
Danielle Stewart and freshman
Katrina Guido at No. 1. Stewart and Guido are now 3-0 from that position this fall.
The Ducks completed the doubles sweep with a win by default at No. 3
The winning continued for Stevens once singles started with Masciana's straight-set win at No. 5 over freshman Lu Lu Zhang, followed by sophomore
Lily Bruenjes' 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 4. Guido moved to 3-0 in her singles career with a straight-set win at No. 2 before sophomore
Jillian Morneau picked up her first win of the season at No. 3 over Look.
Stewart continued the trend with a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 1 to give Stevens an 8-0 lead. The Ducks picked up another default victory at No. 6 to complete the Saturday sweep.
