Women’s Soccer Looks To Extend Winning Streak

HOBOKEN, N.J. (OCTOBER 1, 2015) – After topping Drew University 4-0 Wednesday, the Stevens Institute of Technology women's soccer team looks to run its unbeaten streak to five Saturday against Elmira College.
 
WELCOME HOME
Homecoming is this Saturday, and Stevens will host the Soaring Eagles at 3 p.m. at the DeBaun Athletic Complex. It is the second half of a soccer doubleheader, with the Stevens men's soccer team hosting Ithaca College at 12 p.m.
 
MOVIN' ON UP
With the win on Wednesday, the Ducks improved to 6-2-1 on the season. They have knocked off two teams so far that qualified for the 2014 NCAA Tournament in Montclair State University and Farmingdale State College.
 
LAST TIME OUT
Senior Carly Bean netted a pair of goals in the Wednesday victory over the Rangers. Her goal 16 seconds into the contest was the second fastest in school history. Freshman Misha Brewster and sophomore Gabby Pagkalinawan also recorded goals in the victory.
 
SCOUTING THE SOARING EAGLES
Elmira comes into the match with a 2-6 record, but are 2-0 in the Empire 8 Conference. Sophomore Jordyn Rousselle leads the club with three goals and seven points while junior Amanda Banner and sophomore Gabe Carmona have combined to make 67 saves this year.
 
FIRST TIMERS
Brewster scored her first collegiate goal with three seconds to go in the contest after taking a pass from fellow newcomer Zisi Komar. Fellow first-year Madi Chollett made her first college appearance in goal for the second half, and recorded three saves. Not to be outdone, Komar had three assists for her third multi-point game of the season.
 
MAHNKEN REPORT
Sophomore goalkeeper Lindsey Mahnken is averaging four saves per game in 2015 and currently possesses a 1.04 goals against average. In her 45 minutes of action Wednesday, the Bayville, N.J. native stopped all five shots that were sent in her direction.
