HOBOKEN, N.J. (OCTOBER 29, 2015) – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's swimming team begins its 2015-16 campaign with a dual meet against Rowan University Saturday.
Last winter,
Brittany Geyer took home a pair of NCAA National Championships, and the Ducks finished second at the Empire 8 Championships.
Head coach
Brad Thornton welcomes eight freshman to Castle Point this year.
Anne Marie Arcidiacono and
Alicia Galer both have shown a lot of promise early on in training. Arcidiacono is a butterflyer, while Galer is a breaststroker who hopes to score high at the conference championships.
Jillian Greatsinger is competing for a conference roster spot in the freestyle, while
Laurie Prinz is looking for an NCAA "B" cut time in the breaststroke.
Courtney Jones should immediately contribute in all relay events and is hoping to make the NCAA Championships.
Mackenzie Randle and
Caroline Telma have both shown vast improvements since the preseason, while
Caroline Shusta hopes to score high in the butterfly at E8's.
Of the six sophomores on the roster,
Sarah Jurczyk hopes to make a return trip to NCAA's this year. Jurcyzk was named an Honorable Mention All-American with a 16
th place mark in the 100-yard butterfly.
Tori Glascock is eying NCAA "B" cut times in the butterfly and IM, while
Sarah Hoogenboom has her eyes set on the school-record in the 200-yard backstroke.
Meghan Randle and
Gabriella Romano continue to make strides off last years marks, with Randle hoping to make "A" relays this year.
Kaitlynn Prescott is gearing up to make a run at the NCAA "B" cut times in the breaststroke and IM.
Danielle Caruso headlines the junior class, and is looking to return to NCAA's this year while setting team records in the process.
Claire Hendershot and
Nicole Regenauer continue to improve and both hope to be in the "A" finals at the E8's, with Regenauer looking to lock up a spot in the "A" freestyle relay.
Miranda Rohn hopes to score high at the E8 and improve on her five top times set at the ECAC Championships last year.
The senior class has two swimmers hoping to return to NCAA's after not qualifying in 2014-15.
Elizabeth Heinbach qualified in the 1,650-free in 2013-14 and
Jennifer Rutledge was an Honorable Mention All-American in 2012-13 after qualifying for a pair of relay events.
Katlyn Christenson is one of the more versatile swimmers on the roster and is looking for an "A" relay spot.
Elena Piper is returning from an injury and hopes to return to form this year, while Alexandra Borelli is looking to score in the breaststroke at the Empire 8 meet.
