RESULTS
MIDDLEBURY, Vt. (March 15, 2015) – The No. 29 Stevens Institute of Technology men's tennis team overcame a doubles deficit Sunday to knock-off No. 33 Brandeis University 5-3 in Vermont.
The win moves Stevens to 4-3 while Brandeis fell to 2-5.
The Ducks jumped out to a quick lead with freshman
Kyle Henry and sophomore
Tyler Tisdale's 8-3 win at third doubles. Brandeis was able to recover however, evening the match at No. 2 over freshman
Danny Polk and sophomore
Michael Feldman while simultaneously taking the 8-4 win at No. 1 over juniors
Matthew Heinrich and
Ben Foran.
Brandeis bounced-back with a quick 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 2 before Feldman evened the match with a 6-1, 6-4 win at No. 3. Heinrich grabbed the lead with a win at No. 1 before Drake continued the momentum after overcoming a first set loss in a 6-7, 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 4.
Needing a win to clinch, Polk finished off Danny Lubarsky at No. 5 in a 6-3, 6-3 win. The win was the fourth in a row at singles for Polk.
With Heinrich's singles win, the junior All-American tied assistant coach
Arik Zeevy with 68 wins all-time at singles.
The Ducks will now head south to Florida on Wednesday for the first of two matches against Florida Institute of Technology and No. 22 University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.
