HOBOKEN, N.J. (August 3, 2015) – The Stevens Institute of Technology athletics department will elect five new members into the athletics Hall of Fame as part of the Homecoming festivities in October.
Nicholas Gkionis '07, Dora Enright '08, Adam Sandt '08, David Martin '53, and Frank Rotunda comprise the class of 2015, and will enter the hall during the ceremony on October 2nd at 6 p.m. in Bissinger Room.
GKIONISHeralded as one the greatest defensive soccer players Stevens has ever seen, Gkionis compiled three First Team All-Conference nods during his career, in addition to the conference player of the year in 2006. Gkionis was named NSCAA All-Region twice, and in 2006 became an NSCAA First Team All-American.
After finishing his career at Stevens, Gkionis went on to play professionally oversees for three years.
ENRIGHTThe program's all-time leader in scoring and rebounding, Enright is top-10 in 11 all-time records in addition to a pair of single-season marks. Enright was a three-time First Team All-Conference performer, and was twice named All-Region by d3hoops.com.
Enright is the only player in program history to accumulate over 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds.
SANDTSandt will enter the 2015-16 school year sitting No.1 in six different baseball all-time records including hits, RBIs, total bases, doubles, assists, and saves. Additionally, Sandt is top-three in seven single season marks to go along with three First Team All-Conference nods.
In 2006, Sandt was named Stevens' male athlete of the year.
MARTINAs a captain of the men's lacrosse, Martin accumulated several awards during his career including a pair of USILA Honorable Mention All-American nods, and the Gear & Triangle award for the best senior athlete in 1953.
Martin scored 30 goals during the 1953 season, and was also awarded the John A. David Award.
ROTUNDARotunda racked-up 30 years of service to the Stevens athletics department as the athletic director from 1989-97, and the men's lacrosse coach from 1970-90. During this time as an administrator, Rotunda led the department though the planning and construction of the Scahefer Center.
Additionally, Rotunda served as the IAC president in 1995 and 96, and was named to the NJLA Hall of Fame in 2000.
