RESULTS
HOBOKEN, N.J. (September 20, 2015) – The No. 25 Stevens Institute of Technology tennis team dropped its 2015 fall opener Sunday, 7-2 to No. 23 Wesleyan University.
Wesleyan jumped out to the early lead with an 8-4 win at second doubles, but the Sevens veteran duo of seniors
Matthew Heinrich and
Ben Foran evened the match up with an 8-4 win at No. 2. Wesleyan was able to bounce-back however, taking the win at No. 3 to take the lead heading into the singles.
All-American Stevens Chen extended the Wesleyan lead at second singles before the Cardinals clinched the win with wins at No. 4 and No. 6.
The Ducks were able to seize a point at thanks to Heinrich's 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 1, however its all the scoring they would get as Wesleyan took the final two matchups to close out the match. Junior
Charles Drake took the first set in his sixth singles matchup before dropping the third in a tiebreaker.
The Ducks will return to action Friday with the three-day Intercollegiate Tennis Association Northeast Regional in Poughkeepsie.
