BETHLEHEM, Pa. (SEPTEMBER 4, 2015) – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's volleyball team won their first two matches of the season-opening Greyhound Invitational Friday.
                
The Ducks knocked off Alvernia University in three sets before dispatching Muhlenberg College in a five set thriller in the nightcap.
 
Stevens 3, Alvernia 0 (25-16, 25-23, 25-19)
Against the Crusaders, sophomore Brianna Evans and junior Mary Tobin each tallied 12 kills, with Tobin registering a double-double by chipping in 10 digs. Evans also notched two solo blocks while senior Catie Shelton handed out 36 assists. Junior Christina Sciarra had eight kills, including the 600^th of her career.
 
Stevens 3, Muhlenberg 2 (25-17, 18-25, 25-23, 14-25, 16-14)
In the nightcap, Shelton dished out a career-best 49 helpers, with Sciarra nearly missing a double-double with 18 kills and eight digs. Evans and Tobin each recorded over 10 kills and 15 digs, with sophomore libero Sydni Horner tallying 28 digs.
 
Stevens is back in action on Saturday, taking on #12 Eastern University at 12 p.m. before concluding the invitational at 2 p.m. against Dickinson College.
