RESULTS
HOBOKEN, N.J. (January 30, 2016) – The No. 9 Stevens Institute of Technology men's swimming team topped Hartwick College 179-83 Saturday.
The Ducks closed out the dual-meet portion of the schedule with a 2-2 record. Hartwick dropped to 12-3 in dual-meets.
After setting a Schaefer Center Pool record in the 200-yard medley relay last Wednesday against The College of New Jersey, the team of seniors
Ravi Sun,
Joshua Lefeber and
Tomasz Wolinski, along with junior
Austen Young, re-broke that mark. They beat the time of 1:33.51, setting a new record of 1:32.91.
The Ducks went 1-2 in the 1,000-freestyle, as junior
Mark Lippert grabbed a time of 9:59.33 and classmate Connor Arnott was right behind him. Wolinski was first in the 200-free, while Sun narrowly missed breaking his own pool record time in the 100-back.
Lefeber and fellow fourth-year
Dane Pilcher took the first two spots in the 100-breaststroke, with sophomore
Ethan Gehenio taking first in the 100-yard freestyle. Sun missed another pool record in the 200-back by .10 seconds, settling for a time of 1:51.66. Arnott and Lippert flipped spots in the 500-freestyle, and freshman Vinny Tavoletti narrowly edged out Young in the 100-fly.
To cap off the afternoon, the 400-freestyle relay broke a pool record by .26 seconds, as the team of Wolinski, Gehenio, Sun and Lefeber set the mark.
Prior to the meet, the Ducks honored Lefeber,
Zach Pergolizzi, Pilcher, Sun and Wolinski as part of Senior Day festvities.
The Ducks will be back in action on February 6, taking part in the New York University Invitational.
