ONEONTA, N.Y. (January 9, 2016) – Senior
Dylan Krause scored 13 points to lead the Stevens Institute of Technology women's basketball team to a 62-45 win over Hartwick College Saturday.
The Ducks (8-3, 4-0 Empire 8 Conference) won their fourth straight and shot 44.2 from the field, while limiting the Hawks (3-7, 1-1 E8) to just 16 field goals on 27.1% shooting.
Stevens led wire-to-wire, scoring 11 of the first 13 markers to open the game. Krause had four points during the opening run, while sophomore
Megan Brown had five. Brown had nine of her 12 points during the first 10 minutes.
The Ducks defense held tough in the second quarter, limiting the hosts to a mere seven points while scoring 17. A three pointer by junior
Erica Guketlov 12 seconds into the fourth quarter, coupled with a trey from freshman
Megan Anderson a minute later gave the visitors a 26 point lead.
Hartwick countered with a 7-0 run to attempt to close the gap, but Krause connected on the next two baskets to reestablish a lead over 20 points. A layup by the Hawks trimmed the lead to 17 with 3:24 to play, but that would be all the scoring, as the Ducks held Hartwick without a score the remainder of the afternoon.
Senior
Kaitlyn Astel joined Krause and Brown in double figures, chipping in 10 points. Brown saw her double-double streak end at three, but still grabbed seven rebounds and four assists to go with her 12 points.

The Ducks will take on in-state rival The College of New Jersey Monday at 6 p.m. in Ewing, N.J.
