ROCHESTER, N.Y. (October 15, 2016) – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's soccer team outshot Nazareth by 15 Saturday in a 1-0 Empire 8 road win.
The win moved Stevens to 8-4-1 (4-1-0), while Naz fell to 4-8-1 (0-4-1).
Sophomore
Haddy Abdelhady scored the Ducks goal, while freshman
Mitko Bozinov converted a pair of saves for his second-straight shutout.
Eight different Ducks recorded shots on goal while the Stevens defense allowed just two.
Stevens opened the match with a pair of shots that were saved by Naz keeper Nate Ripic, before sophomore
Jimmy Doran put one on goal in the 23rd minute that was once again saved.
Four more unanswered attempts followed for Stevens, followed by one from senior
Patrick Masur in the closing minutes that sailed high.
The Ducks continued their offensive pressure into the second before finally breaking through in the 73rd with Abdelhady's score off a feed from sophomore
Daniel Aversano.
Stevens' defense blocked Naz's equalizer attempt in the 77th, and stopped any more chances before they had a chance to develop over the remainder of regulation to seal the win.
The Ducks will return to Hoboken Tuesday night against Rutgers-Newark for the first of three-straight at home.
