HOBOKEN, N.J. (October 5, 2016) – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's soccer team saw its four-match win streak snapped Wednesday night in a 3-0 loss to No. 12 Franklin & Marshall in Hoboken.
The loss drops Stevens to 5-4-1, while F&M moved to 8-1-3.
Senior
Nick DeFelice led the Ducks with two shots including one on goal, while freshman keeper
Mitko Bozinov tallied a career-high four saves. Stevens recorded five shots for the night, and registered four corners.
Stevens narrowly missed taking the lead less than two minutes in with sophomore
Andrew Masur's header off a corner from senior
Jay Mikula, but F&M keeper Dave Reingold made the diving stop to keep the Ducks off the board.
F&M finally tallied the match's first goal in the 27th minute off a free kick from just outside the box, before adding to the lead six minutes later off an unassisted score from top scorer Jason Tonelli. The Diplomats limited Stevens offensively from there, holding the Ducks shot-less over the final 20 minutes of the half.
F&M tallied another 20 minutes into the second, but Bozinov prevented a fourth with a diving stop in the 67th. The Ducks generated an opportunity of their own in the 75th, but a shot from DeFelice sailed high of the net.
The shot would be all Stevens would get the rest of the night as F&M's defense put the clamps on from there en route to the win.
The Ducks will be back in action Saturday when they host Utica at 1 p.m.
