ELMIRA, N.Y. (October 9, 2016) – Five different players scored goals Sunday in the Stevens Institute of Technology field hockey team's 6-0 Empire 8 road win over Elmira.
The win moved Stevens to 8-5 (5-1), while Elmira fell to 2-9 (0-5).
Junior
Victoria Alvarez scored twice to lead Stevens offensively, while senior
Nolie Prouty recorded a season-high three assists. Sophomore
Regan Littell, junior
Katti Thomasian, senior
Taylor Welch, and freshman
Jillian Brauer each chipped in with the rest of Stevens' goals.
Senior
Emily Stukenborg made a pair of saves in 50 minutes of action to earn the win, keying the Ducks third shutout win of the fall.
Stevens dominated possession all afternoon with 27 shots, in addition to recording 16 corners.
Stevens went up early with Alvarez's goal six minutes in off a floating pass from Prouty, initiated by a corner from Littell. The Ducks continued their swarming pressure from there before being rewarded with a goal from Littell eight minutes later scored off her own rebound.
Thomasian continued the unanswered scoring with one in the 28th minute off a pass from Prouty, capping a dominating half for the Ducks that saw them tally 13 shots to Elmira's two, including eight on goal.
Welch got into the scoring early in the second to make it 4-0, before Alvarez tallied her second of the game 12 minutes into the half off a pass from the top of the zone from junior
Cassidy O'Hearn.
Brauer capped the scoring three minutes later on a rebound from junior
Haines Duff's shot, giving the Ducks more than enough cushion to cruise to the victory.
The Ducks will wrap up their four-game road slate Wednesday at No. 12 Rowan.
