HOBOKEN, N.J. (February 16, 2016) – Four different players scored in double-figures Tuesday in the Stevens Institute of Technology men's basketball team's, 96-68 win over Hartwick College in Hoboken. 

The win rose Stevens to 12-11 (8-6), and kept them in sole possession of the fourth and final spot in next weekend's Empire 8 Conference Championship. Hartwick dropped to 16-7 (11-3) with the loss.

Junior Patrick Barron led all scorers with 24 points including seven rebounds and five assists, while junior Evan Klimchak chipped-in with 20 keyed by 4-of-5 shooting from three. Senior Alex Lorenz tallied a double-double of 18 points and 10 rebounds, and junior Kevin Zychowski scored 13.

The Ducks shot 46 percent from the field, 53 percent from three, and forced 12 Hartwick turnovers. 

A Hartwick three nine minutes into the game tied a back-and-forth opening at 13, but the Ducks answered with a 13-3 run to go up 10 with just under eight minutes to go. Hartwick ended the drought with a pair of free throws, but five points from Klimchak over the next two possessions grew Stevens' lead to 11. 

A three from Barron with just over one minute to go ballooned the advantage to 15, before four points from Hartwick in the closing minute cut the lead to 13 going into the break.

The Ducks continued their control over the game early in the second, opening up their largest lead of the game at 18 two minutes in off a layup from junior Logan McDonald. Hartwick got back to within 14 after a small burst, but back-to-back threes from Barron grew the lead to 20.

A 12-2 Stevens run brought the lead to 27 midway through the half, and put the game well in hand over the rest of regulation. Hartwick got to within 23 with four to go, but it's as close as they would get the rest of the night as the Ducks closed the game on a 7-2 run to seal the game. 

The Ducks will be back in action this weekend for Friday and Saturday games against Nazareth College and St. John Fisher College respectively.
