Men’s Lacrosse Rolls Past Arcadia In Opener

HOBOKEN, N.J. (February 20, 2016) – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's lacrosse team dominated Arcadia University in a 21-6 win on Saturday in its season opener.

The Ducks did not look back after scoring just 2:17 contest, as senior Connor O' Shea took a feed from sophomore Bryan Rogers for the first goal of the season. Before the first quarter was up, seniors Matt Ferentini, Andrew Scrutchfield and Michael Serrante all tallied markers. Scrutchfield would add an assist on the Ferentini tally. Arcadia would get a goal back on a man up tally from Jay Horner.

Stevens unloaded in the second frame, as Serrante would complete his hat trick with a pair of second quarter tallies. Scrutchfield also added a pair of goals in the frame, and freshman Max Bailey and junior Jan Schoonen scored 14 seconds apart late in the period to send the Ducks into halftime with a double-digit lead.

O'Shea potted his second of the afternoon late in the third quarter, and sophomore JP Southren connected on a pair of goals in the fourth stanza. Fellow sophomore Luke Castellano tallied his first of the season, scoring a nifty goal falling down with just over 11 minutes left in the game.

14 different Ducks recorded goals, led by Scrutchfield and Serrante's three each. Scrutchfield would also chip in a pair of assists and three ground balls. Senior Brett Incollingo went 9-of-12 in "X" and scooped up five ground balls, while senior Tim Fair also had five ground balls with three caused turnovers. Freshman Carson White was victorious in his collegiate debut, making five saves in just over 40 minutes.

Chris Jacovino had three goals on seven shots for Arcadia, while Matt Mignogna delivered two goals.

The Ducks will be back in action next Sunday, traveling to take on No. 19 Endicott College.
