HOBOKEN, N.J. (February 26, 2016) – No. 6 Stevens Institute of Technology men's volleyball dropped a four set match to No. 3 Carthage College before knocking off Medaille College in four sets Friday.
The Ducks moved to 13-4 with the split, while Medaille dropped to 8-5, and Carthage is 13-1. Carthage topped Medaille in straight sets in the middle game of the evening.

John Eddins put Stevens up 5-4 in the opening set, but Carthage went ahead with a 3-0 spurt. The Ducks knotted the set at 11 thanks to a kill by junior
Jordan Stuart, but the Red Men tallied the next five to grab control. Senior
Tim Ferriter capped off a 4-0 rally to bring the Ducks within 22-20, however that was as close as they would get, as a pair of unforced errors ended the set in favor of Carthage.
To begin the second frame, Ferriter slugged home three kills putting the hosts up 8-6. A kill by junior
Gabe Shankweiler gave Stevens a comfortable four lead at 21-17. Carthage would take advantage of three Stevens attack errors to bring up set point, but the Ducks were resilient and ended the period with three straight points, capped off a by Ferriter kill.
The Ducks fell behind early in both sets three and four, and were unable to battle back. In the fourth set, Stevens staved off four consecutive match points before a service error ended the match. Hitting did the Ducks in, as they only hit .059 and .040 over the final two frames.
Ferriter led the team with 23 kills, while Eddins handed out 30 assists. Shankweiler chipped in 10 kills and two total blocks in the setback.
Griffin Shields led the Red Men with 23 kills, while Matt Reinsel handed out 41 assists.

Jacob Stillman to close out the opening frame.
A see-saw tilt in the second stanza saw the visitors pull away with four of the final five tallies, capped off with a kill from Jack Hagerty. Despite trailing 5-4 in the third period, Stevens used a 4-0 run mid-set to vault ahead 17-10. The Mavericks were battlers, and forced Stevens into a timeout at 19-17. The break helped Stevens, as they tallied six straight behind the DeBoer serve.
Medaille once again leapt ahead in the final set, going up 15-13. Shankweiler slammed home a kill to even the set at 166, taking advantage of a block error. The Medaille coach was issued a red card and the Ducks were awarded a point. The hosts took advantage, and senior
Chris Vaughan put away a kill to end the match and the Ducks were able to salvage a split.
Vaughan led the way with 11 kills, while Shankweiler and Stuart each racked up nine. Stillman served up three aces, while Stuart was a force with five total blocks.
A quick turnaround for the Ducks, as they will take on Baruch College tomorrow at 11 a.m.
