HOUGHTON, N.Y. (February 5, 2016) – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's basketball team outscored Houghton College by 22 points in the second half Friday, in a 103-86 Empire 8 Conference road win.
The win moved Stevens to 9-10 (5-5), while Houghton fell to 8-11 (3-8).
Junior
Patrick Barron led all scorers with 26 points, while senior
Kevin Zychowski poured-in 19 on 5-of-7 shooting from three. Senior
Alex Lorenz narrowly missed a double-double with 13 points and eight rebounds, and junior
Evan Klimchak scored nine in addition to five assists.
The Duck shot 58 percent from the field in the second half, and 47.4 percent for the game, while forcing 17 Houghton turnovers.
Stevens jumped-out to a seven point lead four minutes in with a jumper from Barron, but the Highlanders responded with a 13-0 run to go up six. Klimchak ended the run with a free throw, giving way to a back-and-forth contest over the next 11 minutes.
Houghton re-built the lead to seven with just under two to go, but threes from Barron and Zychowski cut the deficit to five going into the break.
The Ducks controlled the tempo early in the second before a 7-3 run keyed by five from Lorenz brought Stevens to within one three minutes in. Barron's three one minute later put the Ducks back in the lead, and sparked a 17-0 run to put Stevens up 14 with 12 minutes remaining.
Stevens cruised from that point on, opening up an 18 points advantage off a three from freshman

Logan McDonald put the Ducks up 19 with two minutes to go.
The Ducks will be back in action tomorrow at Alfred University at 2 p.m.
