HOBOKEN, N.J. (March 16, 2016) – The No. 15 Stevens Institute of Technology men's lacrosse team routed Trinity College 21-8 Wednesday.
The Ducks improved to 5-1, while Trinity fell to 1-3.
The Bantams struck first, as Jack Sharrio potted one 49 seconds into the contest. Senior
Matt Ferentini, freshman
Max Bailey and junior
Connor Towne each added goals during a three minute stretch. After Ben Knaus got one back for the visitors,
Stevens would record the next seven, with senior
Connor O'Shea adding a hat trick and senior
Andrew Scrutchfield tallying a pair during the run. Freshman
Dean Peluso would cap off first half scoring for Stevens, sending the hosts into halftime with a 10-3 lead.
Ferentini added his second of the evening 1:08 into the third quarter to keep the momentum going. Peluso would add consecutive goals 41 ticks apart to record his first career hat trick, while Ferentini and Scrutchfield each completed hat tricks in an eight goal third quarter.
The Bantams tallied a trio of goals in the fourth quarter, but the Ducks were able to counter with three of their own from senior
Michael Serrante, sophomore
Bryan Rogers and sophomore
Christian Werlau.
O'Shea led the Ducks with three goals and four assists, as six players recorded two or more goals. Junior
Jan Schoonen led the team with a career-high nine ground balls while forcing two turnovers. Freshman
Carson White had his third straight contest with 10 or more saves, stopping 10 Bantam attempts.
Knaus led Trinity with two goals in the setback.
The Ducks will be back in action Saturday, taking on Haverford College.
