Baseball Drops Extra Inning Game To Rowan

GLASSBORO, N.J. (March 6, 2016) – The Stevens Institute of Technology baseball team dropped a 3-2, 10 inning contest to Rowan University Sunday.

Rowan earned its first win of the season, moving to 1-3, while Stevens fell to 3-4.

The Ducks picked up a run in first inning, as senior Jonathan Toro led off the game with a single. After classmate Jayson Yano was hit with a pitch, fellow fourth year Nick Sieber rapped an RBI single to right field to score Toro. Stevens added another run in the second, as junior Garrett Wells came around to score on an RBI hit from Toro.

The score remained 2-0 until the fourth inning. Rowan picked up two runs on an RBI single by Evan Hughes. The Ducks managed only hits after the third inning, but Yano was excellent on the mound, throwing seven innings allowing only two runs while striking out six.

The Profs loaded the bases in the bottom of the 10th, and ended the affair with a hit by pitch with the bases loaded to score the winning run.

Toro and Sieber each had a pair of hits and an RBI, while Yano reached base three times.

Joe Craig, Greg Myers and Hughes each had two hits for Rowan, while the Profs bullpen allowed just two hits in seven innings.

The Ducks will be back home taking on Rutgers University-Newark at 4 p.m.
