No. 23 Men’s Tennis Opens Conference Play With Saturday Doubleheader

HOBOKEN, N.J. (April 1, 2016) – The No. 23 Stevens Institute of Technology men's tennis team will play its first Empire 8 Conference matches of the season Saturday when it hosts Alfred University and Houghton College. 

MATCH INFO
Saturday will start against Alfred at 10 a.m., before concluding against Houghton at approximately 1 p.m. on the Stevens tennis courts. Times and location are subject to change due to weather. 

LAST TIME OUT
After being edged 5-4 last Monday in the California opener against No. 4 University of Chicago, the Ducks fell three times to top-25 opponents in No. 22 Tufts University, No. 11 Bowdoin College, and No. 8 Pomona-Pitzer.

SCOUTING REPORT
Alfred enters Saturday 3-9 (1-0) off wins against Hartwick College and Lycoming College, while Houghton is 3-4 going into a Friday match with Utica College. 

OWNING THE E8
Stevens hasn't dropped a match to an E8 opponent since Ithaca College in 2010, in a streak that's lasted in a streak that's lasted 43 consecutive matches.  

MOVING ON UP
Despite the losses last week, the Ducks moved up two spots in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association National Rankings from No. 25.

EXPERIENCE WINS
Leading the Ducks with six wins each at singles this season has been seniors Ben Foran and Matthew Heinrich. Foran also leads the team with nine doubles wins, while Heinrich is second with eight. 

P/H-D(OUBLES)
Sophomore Danny Polk and Kyle Henry have been the Ducks second best double combo this season, winning four times including once at No. 1.
