Women’s Lacrosse Continues Homestand With Pair Of E8 Opponents

HOBOKEN, N.J. (April 1, 2016) – Fresh off a win over Stockton University, the Stevens Institute of Technology women's lacrosse team will look to start a win streak this weekend with games on Saturday and Sunday. 

WEEKEND INFO
The Ducks will start the back-to-back by hosting Houghton College at 11 a.m. Saturday, followed by a matchup with Alfred University Sunday at the same time. 

LAST TIME OUT
Behind a game-high five goals from senior Erika Wilcox, the Ducks snapped their four-game losing streak with a 13-6 win over Stockton University Thursday afternoon in Hoboken.

SCOUTING REPORT
At 2-6, Houghton enters the weekend on a four-game losing streak and 0-1 in the Empire 8 Conference. Jennifer Zacchigna is the Highlanders leading scorer with 27 goals, while Kourtnie Franklin is 2-8 in eight starts in the cage. 

Alfred brings a 4-5 (0-1) record into a Saturday matchup with Hartwick College, and features three double-digit goal scorers in Miranda Gilbert, Morgan Timmerman, Megan Wendt. 

KEEP IN DOMINANT
Stevens has dominated the Houghton and Alfred Matchups in recent years, beating both opponents by a combined average margin of 13 goals per game over the last two seasons. 

CONSISTENT CAPTAIN
Wilcox's five-goal scoring effort Thursday was her fourth of the season, moving her into a tie for first place on the E8's scoring list. 

D IS KEY
Junior Betsy Crossland captains the Stevens defensive unit that's second in the E8 in goals allowed. Junior Madison Annitto, freshman Regan Littell, and sophomore Victoria Alvarez have each, in addition to Crossland, started every game for the Ducks this season.

FIRST
Junior Mariel Haubrich and sophomore Bridget Reed each connected on their first goals of the season in Thursday's win.
