Women’s Lacrosse Travels To Elmira In Regular Season Finale

HOBOKEN, N.J. (April 29, 2016) – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's lacrosse team (9-6, 5-2) will play the final regular season game of its schedule Saturday in an Empire 8 Conference showdown with Elmira College.

GAME INFO
Game time is set for 1 p.m. on Campus Field in Elmira.

LAST TIME OUT
Stevens won its second game in-a-row last weekend with a 16-4 rout over Hartwick College in Hoboken.

SCOUTING REPORT
Elmira enters the final weekend of the regular season with a 6-8 (2-5) record, and coming off an 18-5 win over Hilbert College. Moorea Spoljaric leads the Empire 8 in goals per game and points per game, while Lindsay Wargo has been the primary option in the cage with 71 saves.

HERE'S THE DEAL
Stevens has clinched a spot in next weekend's Empire 8 Championship, and will await this weekend's matchups to see which seed it will get. A win combined with a Nazareth College loss will give the Ducks at minimum the three seed, with the chance to move up to two if Ithaca College defeats St. John Fisher College.

KEEPING IT 200
Senior Erika Wilcox became just the third player in program history to reach 200 career goals in last weekend's win over Hartwick. The captain is second only to Spoljaric on the E8 goal leaderboard.

DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS
Last Saturday's win marked the sixth time this season Stevens has held an opponent to five goals or less. Only Fisher has allowed less goals in the E8.

KEEP THE STREAK
Stevens has beaten Elmira each season since joining the Empire 8, winning by an average margin of just over 11 goals per game.

DRAW
Junior Kathleen Kalbian leads the Ducks with 56 draw controls this season, a total good for third in the E8.

STEADY PRESENCE
Junior Mariel Haubrich has scored in seven of the Ducks last eight games, and assisted in eight of the last nine.

CAUSING HAVOC (TURNOVERS)
Sophomore Victoria Alvarez has been a menace to opposing offenses this spring, leading the team with 20 caused turnovers.
