Women’s Lacrosse Returns To Action At Utica

HOBOKEN, N.J. (April 8, 2016) – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's lacrosse team (5-5) will look to bounce back from a Tuesday loss Saturday when it travels to Utica College. 

GAME INFO
Game time is set for 1 p.m. at Charles A. Gaetano Stadium in Utica. 

LAST TIME OUT
Senior Erika Wilcox scored two goals Tuesday night in a 9-2 loss to the College of New Jersey in Hoboken, while sophomore Stephanie Schnelzer made six saves. 

SCOUTING REPORT
At 6-4, Utica enters the weekend off a loss to first place St. John Fisher College last weekend. Rebecca Plunkett and Courtney Wheeler are the Pioneers top goal scorers with 27 and 23 goals respectively this season, while Kells Casey has seen the bulk of the time in the cage. 

EXTEND THE STREAK
Stevens is currently riding an eight-game win streak against Utica, winning by an average margin of nearly nine goals per game. 

WHERE THEY STAND
Ithaca College and St. John Fisher College are tied for first place in the Empire 8 Conference at 3-0, while Stevens is sitting in second at 2-1. Utica is in a tie for fourth at 1-1. 

DYNAMIC DUO
With a combined 63 goals between them, Wilcox and junior Kathleen Kalbian are the E8's highest scoring duo. 

STEPPING UP
Junior Mariel Haubrich has stepped up in the absence of sophomore Cami Santor, tallying eight assists in the Ducks last four games. 

D IS KEY
Captained by junior Betsy Crossland, the Stevens defense is second in the E8 in goals allowed. Sophomore Victoria Alvarez leads the Ducks with 12 caused turnovers. 

IN THE CAGE
Schnelzer has 63 saves this season while starting all 10 games for the Ducks. Schnelzer's save total is good for fourth in the E8.
