PITTSFORD, N.Y. (May 12, 2016) – The Stevens Institute of Technology baseball team was topped by Ithaca College 9-1 in the Empire 8 Conference Tournament Thursday.
The Ducks dropped to 26-14, while Ithaca improved to 25-14. Stevens will play No. 1 St. John Fisher College tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. while Ithaca will play Utica College 1 p.m. Utica topped Fisher 7-3 in the first game of the tournament.
The Bombers tacked on the first run of the afternoon in the third inning, as Trevor Thompson slapped an RBI groundout. In the fourth, Ithaca added three more with only one hit, as runs came in on a groundout and a passed ball. Webb Little stepped up and hit an RBI single to right field to put the Bombers up 4-0 after the home fourth.
Ithaca threatened in the top of the fifth, but senior
Jayson Yano recorded the final two outs to escape harm. The Bombers chased Yano in the sixth, putting up four runs to go up 8-0 after six. The No. 3 seeded Bombers notched a final run in the ninth on a solo home run by Adam Gallagher. Senior
Ryan Donovan got the Ducks on the board in the ninth with an RBI single, but that was all Stevens mustered.
Yano went five innings, allowing four runs (two earned) on nine hits while striking out two. Junior

Little had three hits, while other Bombers had multiple hit outings. John Prendergast started for Ithaca and earned the win, tossing seven shutout innings, while allowing just two hits.
