No. 21 Men’s Tennis Looks To Continue Reign Over E8 This Weekend

HOBOKEN, N.J. (May 6, 2016) – The No. 21 Stevens Institute of Technology men's tennis team will look to capture its seventh consecutive Empire 8 Conference crown this weekend when it takes the courts for the 2016 championship.

WEEKEND INFO
Top-seeded Stevens will battle fourth-seeded Nazareth College, while second-seeded Ithaca College matches up with third-seeded St. John Fisher College. Both of Saturday's semifinal matches will take place at Binghamton Racquet Club starting at 6:30 p.m., with Sunday's final scheduled for 11 a.m. on the Stevens tennis courts.

Should rain force Sunday's final indoors, the match will begin at 1 p.m. at Binghamton.

LAST TIME OUT
The Ducks polished off another perfect E8 season last weekend with a pair of 9-0 wins over Hartwick College and Utica College.

SCOUTING NAZARETH
Naz finished with a 6-11 mark this season, including a 5-3 record in the E8. Tyler Williams has been the main option at first singles, while Lamar Hurt and Tyler Williams have been the team's top option at first doubles.

SENIOR DUCKS
Seniors Matthew Heinrich and Ben Foran finished the season with 13 and 12 wins respectively to lead the Ducks at singles this spring. The veteran duo also teamed up for a team-leading 16 wins at doubles.

TWO AND THREE

Junior Charles Drake and sophomore Danny Polk finished two and three in singles victories this spring, each eclipsing the double-digit mark.

FOUR-PEAT
Heinrich is looking to become the first player in conference history to be named championship MVP in each of his four seasons.

CATCHING FIRE
Riding a seven-match win streak, Stevens has beaten its last six opponents by an average margin of eight points.

HISTORY LESSON
Stevens' six-year run is the longest such streak in E8 men's tennis history, while the Ducks own the most championships with seven. Ithaca has captured five titles, the last of which came in 2009.
