RADNOR, Pa. (September 21, 2016) – The Stevens Institute of Technology field hockey team fell to Cabrini College on the road Wednesday afternoon, 7-3.
The loss dropped Stevens to 4-3, while Cabrini moved to 3-5.
Junior
Haines Duff, sophomore
Regan Littell and freshman
Jillian Brauer each scored goals for Stevens, while senior goalie
Emily Stukenborg made a pair of saves in goal.
As a team, the Ducks recorded nine shots including five on goal, and topped Cabrini in corners 12-7.
Cabrini grabbed the early lead with a goal less than two minutes in, followed by another four minutes later to put Stevens in a two-goal hole. The Cavaliers added one more at the 14 minute mark, but Stevens answered back eight minutes later off a goal from Duff.
The junior delivered the score after deflecting her shot off a Cabrini defender and into the back of the cage. The goal was Duff's second of the season.
Two more Cabrini goals put Stevens in its biggest deficit of the day midway through the second, before the Ducks roared back with scores from Littell and Brauer 30 seconds apart in the 56th minute.
It would be as close as Stevens would get however as Cabrini answered back with two unanswered with under 10 minutes remaining to seal the Stevens loss.
The Ducks will continue their two-game road swing Saturday with a 10 a.m. match at Utica.
