ROCHESTER, N.Y. (September 24, 2016) – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's soccer team limited St. John Fisher to just one shot on goal Saturday in a 2-0 Empire 8 road win.
The win evens Stevens' record at 3-3-1, while Fisher falls to 1-7-1.
Senior
Patrick Masur and junior
Tommy Dorsay provided the offense for Stevens with goals in the first and second halves respectively, while sophomore keeper
Aaron Henry made one save in net.
Stevens dominated the shot margin 15-2, including a 6-1 margin in shots on goal.
Stevens wasted no time grabbing the early lead with Masur's score in the match's first two minutes. The veteran controlled a cross from sophomore
Jimmy Doran, and fired into the back of the net for his third score of the season.
The Ducks continued to pressure Fisher keeper Joe Catalfamo from that point on with four shots over the next 20 minutes, before Fisher finally got off two of its own soon after. Both proved to not be a threat however as the first sailed wide followed by a save from Henry on the second.
Both teams went scoreless for the reminder of the first and into the second before Dorsay extended the Stevens lead in the 52nd with a score off a pass from senior
Nick DeFelice.
The lead was more than enough for Stevens' suffocating defense as the Ducks held Fisher shot-less over the final 38 minutes to clinch the team's second-straight win.
The Ducks will be back in action Wednesday when they kick off a four-match homestand with Widener at 7 p.m.
