UTICA, N.Y. (September 30, 2016) – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's volleyball team dropped a five set thriller to Union before rebounding with a win over Plattsburgh Friday.
The Ducks fell to 16-2 with the split, snapping a 12 match winning streak.
UNION 3, STEVENS 2 (25-23, 25-19, 20-25, 22-25, 14-16)
Despite winning the first two sets, Stevens dropped the next three, including the final frame 16-14. Senior
Christina Sciarra led the team with 12 kills and also chipped in 18 digs. Junior
Sydni Horner tallied a season-high 38 digs, two off her career best.

Mary Tobin also recorded a double-double of 22 digs and 10 kills, with freshman
Shelby Stewart establishing a new career high nine total blocks (three solo and six block assists). Sophomore
Brianna Perez also hit a new single match best in assists, sending out 42 helpers.
STEVENS 3, PLATTSBURGH 0 (25-20, 25-9, 25-18)
The Ducks rebounded in the second match of the night, picking up a straight set win over Plattsburgh. Freshman
Sara Hain hit .600 with six kills and two solo blocks, while Tobin slammed home 14 kills to lead the team. Stewart had three solo blocks and four block assists, with Perez handing out 28 assists.
Day two of the Utica Tournament sees Stevens taking on Utica in Empire 8 Conference action before battling Potsdam.
