Women’s basketball can’t overcome cold stretch in setback at Hartwick

ONEONTA, N.Y. (January 10, 2017)  – A nearly five-minute scoring drought in the second quarter proved to be too much to overcome as the Stevens Institute of Technology women's basketball team fell at Hartwick College, 56-40, in Empire 8 Conference play Tuesday.

Graduate student Kaitlyn Astel recorded her third double-double of the season with 12 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Ducks. Junior Megan Brown tallied her eighth double-digit rebounding effort of the season with 10 rebounds. Junior Ana Toke added eight points and seven rebounds for Stevens, who fell to 3-7 overall and 2-1 in the E8.

Hartwick's Carly Johnson led all players with 18 points and Caitlin Corbett added 10 as the Hawks improved to 7-5 overall and a perfect 4-0 in the conference.
