Balanced times lead Women’s Swimming over Drew to open 2017 season

  • Short Story: The Stevens Institute of Technology women's swimming team collected six individual victories and two relay wins en route to a season-opening triumph over hosting Drew University.

Top Performers
  • Stevens opened the day with a three-second victory in the 400-yard medley relay. Junior Courtney Jones, senior Kaitlynn Prescott, junior Caroline Shusta and senior Tori Glascock reached the wall in 4:12.43 to earn 11 points for the Ducks.
  • Sophomore Isabella Fairman earned the first individual victory of the afternoon, earning nine points with a three-and-a-half-second victory in the 200-yard freestyle. The Saint Paul, Minnesota native completed the race in the 2:01.37.
  • Jones earned her first of two victories on the day with a winning performance in the 50-yard freestyle. The Fredericksburg, Virginia native reached the wall in 25.50 seconds. Jones also placed first in the 100-yard freestyle (55.01 seconds).
  • Samantha Geyer bested Fairman in the 200-yard individual medley to earn first place points for the Ducks. The Brunswick, Ohio native finished the race in 2:17.89. Fairmain finished just two-hundredths of a second later.
  • Shusta added nine points to the Stevens total after winning the 100-yard butterfly, winning the event by over two seconds.
  • After Drew won the 100-yard backstroke and the 500 free, Prescott returned the Ducks to the win column with a win in the 100-yard breaststroke. The Escondido, California native bested Drew's Stephanie Cushman by a one-and-a-half seconds.
  • Stevens closed the day with a win in the 200-yard freestyle. Freshmen Alexis Colasurdo and Hannah Percely joined Glascock and sophomore Samantha Zdesar in reaching the wall in 1:46.91, winning the event by over two seconds.
