Field Hockey Nipped by Hartwick

ONEONTA, N.Y. (October 21, 2017) – The Stevens Institute of Technology field hockey team saw Hartwick College slip by them 1-0 in Empire 8 action on Saturday. Nicole Mottole made seven saves in the game for the Ducks to keep them in the game until the final horn.

  •  Allyson Quirk supplied the only offense of the day with a goal at 13:37 for the Hawks.
  • Stevens did force nine penalty corners to generate a few good scoring chances.
  • Mottole faced a total of 18 shots in the game and withstood 15 Hartwick penalty corners
  • The Hartwick defense did a good job of containing the Ducks; Stevens managed just six shots in the contest
  • Janet Vill was the only Duck to manage to take more than one shot on the afternoon
  • Allyson Osborne earned the shutout win by making two saves for the Hawks

"We fought a tough battle today and had some trouble connecting," said head coach Meredith Spencer-Blaetz. "Our defense did a good job keeping a relentless Hartwick team at bay and, unfortunately, we couldn't capitalize in our offensive end."

Stevens will return home after its three-game road trip for two more home games; up first the Ducks will host Rowan University at 7 p.m. on Wednesday night.
