Toke totals 19 as Women’s Basketball downs Immaculata 62-43

LANCASTER, Pa. (November 19, 2017)  – Senior Anna Toke led all players with 19 points on 8-of-12 shooting as the Stevens Institute of Technology women's basketball team bested Immaculata University 62-43 Sunday in the consolation game of the 2017 Terry Greene Classic, hosted by Franklin & Marshall College.

Senior Megan Brown added 16 points and a game-high nine rebounds for the Ducks, who won their first game season in improving to 1-2. Brown totaled 32 points and 22 rebounds over the two-day event and was named to the Terry Greene Classic All-Tournament Team.

Natalie Ayoub had nine points and eight boards for the Mighty Macs, who fell to 1-2.

Turning Point
  • For the second consecutive game, Stevens scored first. It was an Anna Toke layup after the Ducks controlled the opening tip that opened the game's scoring.
  • Ayoub made the second of two free throws to put Immaculata on the board.
  • Stevens went on a 10-2 run over the next 5:27 to take a 12-3 lead. 
  • The Ducks forced three misses and caused three turnovers during the stretch.
  • Immaculata would close to within two after a pair of Gina Cocci free throws, but junior Megan Anderson drained a three as time expired in the opening quarter to give Stevens a five-point edge at the first intermission.
  • Stevens held the Mighty Macs scoreless over the first 4:29 of the second quarter to thwart any comeback attempt.

Inside the Numbers
  • Stevens held Immaculata to just 30 percent shooting from the floor, including a 5-for-20 effort in the first half.
  • The Ducks shot 43 percent from the field. 
  • Stevens won the battle of the board, outrebounding the Mighty Macs, 39-31.
  • Stevens collected 14 assists on its 25 baskets. Freshman Sam Winter led all players with a career-high five helpers.
  • Toke and Brown combined for nine steals as Stevens registered a season-best 20 thefts.
  • Stevens held a 34-18 edge in points in the point and a 20-14 advantage off the bench.
  • Stevens never trailed and the game was never tied.
