OWINGS MILLS, Md. (November 25, 2017) – Senior
Anna Toke recorded her first double-double of the season with 10 points and 14 rebounds, but the Stevens Institute of Technology women's basketball team was unable to dig out of a first-quarter deficit and fell to Stevenson University 72-61 Saturday in nonconference action.
Senior
Megan Brown led all players with 18 points and freshman
Sam Winter added 11 points and five boards for Stevens, who fell to 1-3.
Led by Jonyae Curry's team-high 17 points, four players reached double figures for the Mustangs, who evened its record at 2-2.
Turning Point
- A layup by junior Megan Anderson trimmed a double-digit deficit down to a single basket with 6:28 to play in the third quarter.
- Curry was able to draw a foul and converted the first the ensuing free throws, but missed the second.
- The offensive rebound was hauled in by Kristine Tennyson, giving Stevenson a new possession.
- Tennyson found Curry for a layup to give Stevenson a 41-36 lead.
- Curry then forced a turnover and beat the defense down the floor for a layup to give the home team a seven-point advantage, forcing a Stevens timeout.
Inside the Numbers
- Thanks to a 42-37 advantage on the boards, including 19-12 on the offensive glass, Stevens held the edge in second-chance points, 13-8. The Ducks also came out ahead on points in the paint, outscoring Stevenson 28-22..
- Stevenson forced 19 turnovers leading to 24 points, while the Ducks tallied 10 points off 18 Stevenson miscues.
- Winter's 11 points matched a career high.
- Toke also led all players with a season-high four assists.
- Anderson scored eight points on 3-of-7 shooting in her first career start.
- Sophomore Alison Criswell recorded a game-high four assists.
- Stevens scored first for the third consecutive game.

- "We have to continue to grow and learn from our errors for these first stretch of games on our schedule."
- "Tonight, I felt we regressed. We have the pieces, but need to focus on consistent efforts and productivity, which we don't have right now."
- "We will go back to work tomorrow and continue to focus on the defensive end of the floor, because that is what our program is all about and right now, we aren't getting the job done, letting up 70 points tonight and getting outrebounded in the first half."
