WASHINGTON, D.C. (December 9, 2017) –
Spencer Cook had 27 points and
Thomas Cook posted a double-double by going 5-for-5 from the floor as the Stevens Institute of Technology men's basketball team topped The Catholic University of America 76-70 on Saturday.
Continuing the trend of men with "Co-" last names making good contributions for the Ducks,
Ryan Coffey finished with 12 points and six rebounds, both ranking second on the team, and
Chris Cosgrove added another seven points.
Catholic led by as many as seven points in the first half, but back-to-back treys by JoJo Mosca and
Spencer Cook helped to swing the momentum back to Stevens.
"It was a great effort to end the semester and we showed some resilience against a very good Catholic team," said head coach
Bobby Hurley. "I'm happy for our team as we have continued to show progress each game."
- Thomas Cook had Stevens' only block and his 10 rebounds led the team.
- It was just the second double-double of the season for Stevens; Cook had the other as well vs. NJCU
- Kevin Florio had two thefts for the Ducks to lead in that column
- Spencer Cook hit three times from behind the arce
- JoJo Mosca knocked down a pair of treys as well
- Frank Amari, Alec DiPietrantino and Jake Krantz also scored for Stevens in the game. Points off the bench were the difference, as Stevens led there 22-13
- The Ducks also led rebounding 35-29 and three-point field goals 8-4
The Ducks will have a three-week break for the holidays before finally returning home to the friendly confines of Canavan Arena on December 30 against Kean University.
