Dylan DeBoer totaled 11 kills, four block and three assists as No. 3 Stevens Institute of Technology Men's Volleyball team defeated New Jersey City University (25-8, 25-11, 25-22) Thursday evening.
Freshman
Mitch Brooks added seven kills and senior
Scott Russell dished out 15 assists for the Ducks, who won their 11th straight match to move to 22-2.
Christian Ramirez had six kills for the Gothic Knights, who fell to 8-12.
Volleys and Points
- After NJCU served to begin the match, Thomas Burrell's kill was the match's first point.
- Leading 4-3, Stevens took advantage of four NJCU errors to reel off six straight points for a 10-3 lead.
- Two blocks assists by the trio of Jordan Stuart, David Lehman and Joshua Hinton opened a 21-7 lead for the Ducks.
- Back-to-back aces by Lehman closed the set.
- After alternative the second set's first four points, Brooks connected on a Russell set to return the serve to Stevens.
- The Ducks converted on a series of NJCU errors to open a 6-2 lead.
- DeBoer served consecutive aces to open a 17-7 lead.
- The Ducks closed the set by winning three of the final four points - two coming on NJCU errors and the final coming on DeBoer's fourth kill of the set.
- The final set saw the closest play between the teams with eight ties during the set.
- Kills by Ian Bennett and Scott Russell helped the Ducks open a 7-5 lead.
- DeBoer and Carpenter teamed for a block assist on a Jonathan Andrews attack to give the Ducks a 10-6 edge.
- NJCU connected on back-to-back kills to slow the Stevens offense.
- The Ducks opened their biggest lead of the set (14-8) on kills by DeBoer, Hinton and Brooks and a block by Brooks and Carpenter.
- NJCU rallied for the next four points - the final two coming on Stevens attack errors to pull within 14-12.
- After the teams alternated points, NJCU tied the set again at 18 on an attack error by Hinton.
- The teams would again exchange points until back-to-back attack errors gave the Ducks a 23-21 edge.
- Alternating service errors gave Stevens a chance to close out the match at 24-22 with Grant Burden at the serve.

- Eleven different Ducks recorded at least one kill.
- Stevens attacked at a .493 percentage for the match, matching the top total for the season.
- Stevens did not commit an attack error of the first two sets and finished with six for the match.
- A tight Stevens defense forced NJCU into a .000 attack percentage (22-22-74) for the match.
- Stevens again controlled the block, outblocking the Gothic Knights 12-0.
- The Ducks had a 6-2 edge in service aces.
- Stuart, Burrell, Russell and Jonathan Frenzel combined for nine kills on nine attacks.
- Brooks' seven kills marked a new career-high.
- Stevens did not commit a set error or a ball handling error.
- NJCU was penalized a point in the second set for being out of rotation.
