Box Score MAHWAH, N.J. (April 5, 2017)  – Freshman Corey Natofsky drove in a pair of runs and freshman Eric Zickert scored three times as the Stevens Institute of Technology baseball team defeated Ramapo College, 6-5, Wednesday in non-conference action in Mahwah.

Junior Alex Detweiler drove in three runs for Stevens and the Ducks stole seven bases in improving to 11-11-1.

"Detweiler put a great swing on the ball, helping us to a four-run inning," head coach Kristaps Aldins said. "Without that clutch, two-out hit, it likely would have been a completely different flow to the game."

Rob DeAngelis drove in three runs for Ramapo, who fell to 7-10.

Trailing 2-0, the Ducks rallied in the fourth to grab a 4-0 lead. Sophomore Carlos Leon led off with a walk and promptly moved to third on consecutive steals. Matthew Paski walked. Zickert reached on a fielder's choice and sophomore Donny Gherardi singled to load the bases. Natofsky walked to force in a run and prompted a pitching change.

Kevin Foulds promptly struck out Michael Mule' for the second out. Detweiler followed and promptly cleared the bases with his first triple of the season.

Natofsky added an RBI single in sixth and Zickert scored on a throwing error in the eighth. Natofsky, Zickert and Leon each stole two bases.

Ryan Larsen (2-3) pitched a perfect 1 1-3 innings for his second career victory. Sophomore Charlie Ruegger threw two innings in picking up his fourth save of the year.

"Our bullpen really stepped up today," Aldins, said. "Each of them was able to get some key outs in critical spots."

Ramapo plated a run in the ninth off Ruegger, but with runners on the corner, senior P.J. Wiegartner snagged a screaming line drive off the bat of Cory Heitler to end the game.

"Wiegartner and Natofsky each played key roles with huge defensive plays, some smart baserunning and some situational hitting," Aldins said. "It was great to see us do some of the little things that it takes to win close games against quality opponents"

Andrew Hamel started for the Ducks, allowed two runs, one earned, in two innings of work.

Brian Chinni (0-1) allowed an unearned run in one inning to take the loss.
