Coach Speak (Martinez)
  • "Today was a special day from the very start as we witnessed Gabe capture his 1000th kill off a Scott Russell assist."
  • "We had all aspects of the game clicking today as we served extremely well against both teams, which allowed our block and defense to very effective."
  • "All afternoon, we did a great job of taking away the strengths of the opposing teams and forcing them into making errors or into directly into our block and/or our defender."
  • "The one aspect that we missed last week was our offensive numbers matching our defensive efforts and today we did that - hitting .380 against SVU. The same effort continued against Marymount - we had success making their hitters uncomfortable as we were able to make their leading hitter commit 12 errors - a number that comes back to our blockers getting up solid blocks and our defense being scrappy behind them."
  • "The stat sheet does not show, in the number of blocks we put up, but rather in the opposing hitting percentage."
  • "It was great to see Gabe returning the favor for Scott, helping him reach the 1,000 assist mark. A great way to tend the regular season and carry good momentum into the upcoming UVC tournament."

Up Next
  • Stevens will take on Nazareth College in the first round of the 2017 United Volleyball Conference tournament, hosted by Vassar College. The Ducks are the number three seed in the tournament and the Golden Flyers are the six seed.
