Women’s Swimming falls to No. 4 Johns Hopkins

  • Location: Natatorium (Newton White Athletic Center) - Baltimore, Md.
  • Short Story: The Stevens Institute of Technology women's swimming team earned victories in three individual races and one relay, but but fell to No. 4 Johns Hopkins University, 111-82 Saturday afternoon in Baltimore.

Top Performers
  • Freshman Isabelle Rivera earned the first victory of the meet for Stevens, coming in first in the 100-yard butterfly. Rivera reached the wall in 1:02.83.
  • The Ducks recorded consecutive event wins when sophomores Isabella Fairman and Kyla Barry each finished first in the 500-yard freestyle and 100-yard breaststroke races. Fairman won the 500 free in 5:24.82, while Barry reached in the wall in 1:17.58 to win the 100-yard breaststroke. Junior Laurie Prinz earned four points in the 100-yard breaststroke, to join Barry as the only competitors to earn points in the event.
  • The quartet of senior Tori Glascock, freshman Olivia Powers, Rivera, and sophomore Samantha Zdesar earned the final victory of the day in the 200-yard freestyle relay. The team reached the wall in 1:$6.59, finishing nearly four seconds ahead of the second-place team.
  • Zdesar also earned second-place points for Stevens in the 1,000-yard freestyle race. The Queens, New York native completed the grueling race in 11:08.03. Junior Samantha Geyer finished forty-seven-hundredths-of-a-second later.
  • Junior Courtney Jones placed second in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25.55 seconds, getting out-touched at the wall by one-hundredth-of-a-second.

  • Stevens returns to the pool in one week, when the Ducks head to Swarthmore, Pennsylvania for a tri-meet with Rowan University and the hosting Garnet. The swimming gets under way at 1 p.m.
