GALLOWAY, N.J. (October 10, 2018)  – Freshman Emily Franco made seven saves, but a goal scored in the second minute proved to be the difference, as the Stevens Institute of Technology Field Hockey team fell to Stockton University 1-0 Wednesday evening in non-conference action on Stockton Turf Field.
The Ospreys improved to 8-4, while snapping Stevens' five-game winning streak. The Ducks also ended the night with an 8-4 record. Stevens falls to 3-5 in the all-time series against Stockton.
"Today was a disappointing loss but one that we'll use to motivate us as we return to Empire 8 play this weekend and the remainder of the season," said head coach Meredith Spencer-Blaetz.
Stockton's Casey Cordonna tallied the lone goal of the evening. The sophomore began the game-winning by taking a penalty corner. Cordonna completed the play by tipping the ball into the back of the cage after receiving a pass from Sarah Fisher.
Senior Hannah Silvestri led the Stevens offense with two shots. The Ducks fired six shots on the night with two registering on goal. Eight of Stockton's nine shots were on net. Â Stevens held the edge in penalty corners (5-4).
Up Next: The Ducks are set to host Nazareth on Saturday, Oct. 13 at 11 A.M. Prior to the contest, seniors Hannah Silvestri and Regan Littell will be honored in a pre-game ceremony.
