GALLOWAY, N.J. (October 3, 2018) – Stevens Institute of Technology women's tennis team defeated Stockton University on Wednesday 6-3 in a non-conference match-up on Stockton's Tennis Courts. The Ducks improve to 6-1 on the season and snapped the Ospreys three match win streak, they fall to 3-3.
The women's tennis team got off to a great start and swept the doubles flights. Junior
Isabella Calandra and freshman
Agatha Malinowski continue to impress playing in first doubles position. The no. 1 doubles team posted an 8-3 win, sophomore
Makenna Sargis and freshman
Alexis Fuda put another point on the board by winning their flight 8-2 in the second doubles position. Senior Jill Hawden and sophomore
Gabriella Tantillo followed suit in the third doubles position by posting a 8-2 win and giving the Ducks 3-0 lead heading into the singles flights.
Malinowski and Calandra kept the momentum going by posting convincing straight set win in their respective singles flights to clinch the win for the Ducks. The reigning Empire 8 player of the week cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 win and the Montclair, N.J. native posted a 7-5, 6-3 win. Recording the final point of the match for the Ducks was
Alexis Fuda who won a three set thriller 6-2, 3-6, 10-4. Senior
Victoria Piskarev and
Makenna Sargis were both in competitive singles flights but came up short in the third set.
