Women's Basketball Rallies to Defeat Catholic University of America

WASHINGTON, D.C. (November 11, 2018)  – Freshman Jess Broad recorded 28 points as the Stevens Institute of Technology women's basketball team rallied from behind to top Catholic University of America 57-52 Sunday afternoon at Franny Murray Court.

The Ducks trailed for most of the game, with their biggest deficit being 12 points. However, Stevens outscored the Cardinals 26-11 in the fourth quarter to take a lead they would not relinquish and improve to 2-0 on the year.

Broad scored 25 of her points in the second half to help the Ducks chip away at Catholic's lead. The Marlboro, New Jersey native went 3-for-3 from behind the arc in the fourth quarter, hitting a key three-pointer to bring Stevens within one point.

Senior Anna Toke led in the rebound column for the Ducks, pulling down eight, while freshmen Meghan Douglas and Allie Moss each totaled seven boards.

Ashley Smith totaled 13 points for the Cardinals, who dropped their first game of the season.

From the Court
Head Coach Megan Haughey

  • "Offensive contributions from our bench was huge."
  • "Annetta had a fantastic day, I am so proud of her stepping it up today on both ends."
