CENTER VALLEY, Pa. (November 17, 2018) – Freshman
Jess Broad recorded her first career double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds as the Stevens Institute of Technology women's basketball team topped Penn State-Lehigh Valley 57-50 Saturday afternoon at Biller Hall Gymnasium.
After trading baskets in the first few minutes of the game, the Ducks took a lead they would never give up after a layup by Broad. Stevens improved to 3-0 to start the year for the first time since the 2012-13 season.
Freshman
Meghan Douglas was the second-highest rebounder for the Ducks, pulling down a career-high 11 boards. Graduate student
Anna Toke chipped in eight rebounds, while sophomore
Annetta Panayides recorded seven.
Penn State was led by Kion Andrews with a game-high 20 points, followed by Ebony Sanders with 17. The Nittany Lions fell to 2-1 on the year.
Turning Point
- The Ducks held Penn State to nine points in both the second and third quarters, allowing Stevens to distance themselves and secure the lead.
