Women’s Basketball Edged by No. 24 Montclair State

MONTCLAIR, N.J. (November 26, 2018)  – Graduate student Anna Toke scored a season-high 19 points and grabbed eight boards, but the Stevens Institute of Technology women's basketball team fell short to No. 24 Montclair State University 62-58 in non-conference action Monday evening at the Panzer Athletic Center. 

Toke finished the night making 7-of-11 from the field and 5-of-6 at the foul line. The Lincoln Park, New Jersey native also recorded three steals, two assists and one block for the Ducks, who fell to 4-2 on the year. 

Sophomore Christina Li added 10 points for Stevens, including two from behind the arc. The guard tallied a career-high five steals, along with two rebounds and two assists.  

The Red Hawks were led by Alex McKinnon with a game-high 21 points. Domonique Wirsing added 18 points as Montclair improved to 4-1 this season. 

Turning Point
  • Montclair outscored the Ducks 32-20 in the first half. The Red Hawks finished the half with a field goal percentage of 54.2% and a three-point field goal percentage of 50.0%. 

Inside the Numbers
  • Nine Ducks registered points in tonight's contest.
  • Toke scored 14 of her 19 points in the second half. 
  • Sophomore Sam Winter pulled down a season-high seven rebounds.
  • Freshman Jess Broad led the Ducks with a career-high five assists.
  • The Ducks held the edge in steals 18-5, forcing Montclair to commit 24 turnovers.
  • The close game saw each team score 26 points in the paint, six fast-break points, and four second-chance points.
  • Stevens outscored Montclair in the second half, 38-30.
