Trinity College Tops Women's Basketball

HOBOKEN, N.J. (December 1, 2018)  – Freshman Jess Broad tallied a game-high 22 points and a team-high nine rebounds, but the Stevens Institute of Technology women's basketball team fell to Trinity College 73-64 in non-conference action Saturday afternoon at Canavan Arena. 

Sophomore Christina Li added 10 points for the Ducks, who fell to 5-2 on the year. Freshman Kristin Tribel registered a career-high nine points, while graduate student Anna Toke led Stevens with a team-high three steals. 

Courtney Erickson recorded a team-high 15 points for the Bantams, who improved to a perfect 5-0 to start their season. 

The Ducks were able to outscore the Bantams 17-14 in the second quarter after chipping away at Trinity's largest lead of the game. Broad hit three consecutive jumpshots to close out the half and bring Stevens within three points. The Marlboro, New Jersey native finished the afternoon with a field goal percentage of .579 after making 11-of-19 from the floor. 

Turning Point
  • Back-to-back jumpers from Broad kept the Ducks within three points at the beginning of the fourth quarter, but a 6-0 run by the Bantams gave Trinity the distance they needed to secure the victory. 

Inside the Numbers
  • Trinity's Peace Kabari tallied game-highs of 15 rebounds and six assists.
  • Broad registered a career-high three blocks. 
  • The Bantams held the edge in points in the paint, 28-26.
  • Stevens scored 10 points off fastbreaks, while Trinity only tallied eight. 
  • Li, Tribel, Broad and freshman Allie Moss each dished out two assists.
